Originally formed in 1993 under the name Virgin's Cunt, they released two demos before changing their name to Darkwoods My Betrothed in 1994.
Interestingly enough, Erno "Emppu" Vuorinen got his musical career started in this band. He would be later known as the guitarist for the popular band Nightwish.
